  4.      After reading about all the goodies JetSet offers, I'm sure 
  5. you'll agree it's a bargain at any price...but if you act now you 
  6. can have it for only $10.00!  (OK, so you've already got it...you 
  7. want support and bug fixes don't you?)

  18. Anyhow, enough with the sales pitch...

  20.      If you're interested in the source code, send a blank disk 
  21. and an extra $10.00 (Total of $20.00).  Just promise to keep the 
  22. source code to yourself (please don't upload it anywhere...It's 
  23. MY code.)  All code will compile in MegaMax C or Laser C.

  25. Well, I'm back with another printer set up utility.  I recently 
  26. acquired an HP Desk Jet printer, and for those of you who have 
  27. this magnificent printer (and NO Epson emulation cartridge), 
  28. here's a desk accessory (called JetSet) to make life easier!

  30. JetSet (v1.00) allows you to set the following features:
  31.  
  32.      Note: If a button is selected (highlighted) it is in the ON 
  33. position.
  34.  
  35.      1) SCALE - Sets Text Scale On (selected) or Off -- this 
  36. allows you to print a full 66 lines per page -- no more flipping 
  37. DIP switch 2-1!!
  38.  
  39.      2) LQ - Simply selects Letter Quality mode if enabled, Draft 
  40. otherwise.
  41.  
  42.      3) PITCH (5, 10, 16, 20 CPI) - Selects pitch size of 5, 10, 
  43. 16.67, or 20 characters per inch.
  44.  
  45.      4) LPI - Sets line spacing to 6 or 8 lines per inch.
  46.  
  47.      5) HEIGHT - Sets height of characters to either 6 or 12 
  48. points.
  49.  
  50.      6) PAPER - Sets paper size to Letter (LTR), Legal (LGL), 
  51. Envelope (ENV), or Metric (A4).
  52.  
  53.      7 EFFECTS - Lets you set Perforation Skip (PERF), Bold 
  54. (BOLD), whether text is wrapped on long lines or cut off (WRAP), 
  55. and DSPLY gives you the ability to print control codes instead of 
  56. interpreting them (Your printer won't recognize any codes until 
  57. you turn off DSPLY).

  59.      8) MARGIN - Sets the left margin to either 0" or 1"

  61.      The center strip of options lets you:
  62.  
  63.      a) CANCEL - exit the program without sending anything to the 
  64. printer.
  65.      b) DONE - Sends all selections to the printer.
  66.      c) FORM - Executes a Formfeed on the printer.
  67.      d) RESET - Resets the printer back to it's initial KEYPAD 
  68. settings (DeskJet has no hard reset).

  70.      Also you'll notice two options which are unselectable -- 
  71. EPSON and CART.  EPSON will (in a week or two) change the options 
  72. to buttons that will take advantage of all the goodies found on 
  73. the Epson cartridge (even options NOT found on Epson printers!).  
  74. DeskJet owners won't need two accessories!  CART will give you 
  75. access to any Font cartridges you might want to use.  (I'm still 
  76. waiting for my Epson and Font cartridge to arrive...that's why 
  77. these options are not available yet.)

  81. Sheesh, already?  Sorry, but I discovered after I uploaded v1.00 
  82. that WRAP didn't work properly -- also, I forgot to add in my page 
  83. length module before compiling...Now the program automatically 
  84. sets the correct page length when you select either a new Paper 
  85. size or a new line spacing.

  89. As promised, here is JetSet with Epson Emulator cartridge 
  90. support...

  92. You can set up Elite, Condensed, or Pica as well as wide 
  93. (expanded), and proportional type.  The only real changes from 
  94. the goodies mentioned above is that you now have support for tab 
  95. spacing (either 4 or 8), italics, and underlining (well...I had 
  96. to fill that space with SOMETHING.  If you've got a better idea, 
  97. let me know...I can change that box quick!)

  100. cart support real soon.

  104. Seems like perf skip didn't skip too well...It does now.  Also, 
  105. underlining is gone...instead you can now enable printing of 
  106. special symbols located at 128-159 (See ESC 6 and ESC 7 in your 
  107. manual).  These work well with 1st Word Plus.  Also, the LQ 
  108. button is gone from the Epson dialog box...the FX-80 doesn't 
  109. support draft/LQ mode selection...you're always stuck in LQ.  
  110. (You'll have to use the keypad.)

  115. At the request of many users, JetSet now offers a 1/2" margin 
  116. option as well as the standard 0" and 1".

  120. The DONE button really should send the string and then exit...
  121. I had it set up for testing purposes in v1.15...sorry!

  124. NOTES AND CAUTIONS:  If you select the DONE button (thereby 
  125. sending a control string to the printer) and you are not in the 
  126. proper mode (i.e. the accessory is in DeskJet mode and the Epson 
  127. cartridge is plugged in) YOU WILL GET UNPREDICTABLE RESULTS.  
  128. Most likely your printer will simply lock up.  Just press the 
  129. reset button on the keypad and continue on your merry way.  I 
  130. really can't check that for you...sorry.
